Feedback
Know how to use feedback – learn to deal with ‘feedback’, the positive description of criticism. Play the role of detective: find out what’s behind the criticism, then ask for suggestions on how to correct the problem.

Hard work and intensity
"Change how you look , how you feel, how you carry yourself- change how others see you- never give up and it's all yours!
Be one of the few who make it happen- you have the ability within you!"

Spring at long last and well done to you all !
The truth is that while many consider January a good time to start getting in shape they usually aren't the dedicated types and gyms gradually lose members by the February and only the strong minded remain. If you are one of these few then congratulations you have succeeded where 99% fail and are to be commended for you dedication.
In fact for a personal trainer it is usually the spring and summer when they are at their busiest. With the warmer weather and beach holidays and weddings looming there is a REAL reason to get in shape! No more hiding under loose clothing- you will be on show in your swimwear and immortalised in photos- how's that for an incentive?!!!
A personal trainer will keep you on the right track- your weekly sessions will instil a fitness discipline in you and a good trainer will gradually increase the intensity of your workouts, getting the most out of the hour as well as helping you with your diet and educating you in matters of fitness which will last a lifetime.
As a final note I would like to thank everyone in Devon for making me feel so welcome in this beautiful county- a very friendly pace- and well done to those who have been seeing me since January- I know it has not always been easy for you with busy working hours (12 hour days sometimes!) and the cold weather. The changes you have made have been outstanding- it just goes to show what you can do when you have a determined mindset and it has been so rewarding for me to see your amazing transformations!
You have been some of the few who decided to make a change and have stuck with it. Well done, you have no idea what rare traits true commitment and dedication are in modern society.

Beware of hidden calories
Please be aware of the hidden sugar content of foods. Many of you are still eating far too much sugar and simple carbs which will make it near impossible to lose weight.
Look at the food labels of most processed food- check the ingredients it will almost certainly list sugar on them amongst the myriad of other stuff that had been added to make it taste 'better'!
Apart from overall calories the biggest weight control tip I can suggest is to avoid sugar and simple carbs. White bread, white rice and pasta will all keep the pounds sticking to you. And fruit juice- often touted as being healthy will mostly be stored as fat- avoid drinking it even if it had added sweeteners!
Keep your food natural and non processed. Eat lower fat meats and dairy products as well as plenty of whole grains and vegetables and you can't go wrong. Not only will you be leaner but you will be healthier too.
This is so straight forward but time constraints and the big stores do not always make it easy. It amazes me how little wholesome food there is in supermarkets, you almost have to search for it. But it is there, so buy it!
Prepare your food the night before, so you can take it to work the next day. It won't take long and really is worth doing.
Remember- read the labels for hidden calories and avoid sugar- it will make a big difference to how you look!

Keep going!

Write it down- get it done
Make a list of everything that you need to do. Then put each thing into one of these categories:
This is needed so that you can keep a clear mind and relax properly when you get the chance. Do everything on the 'urgent' list right now and as much as you can on the 'important' list.
You can now forget about worrying, its all written down, you know when everything has to be done by.
Its easy to do, yet, effective.
Keep your list on hand so you can add to it when something new comes up.
Try it, you will be surprised to see how well it works.
- Urgent- Now
- Important- Today
- Have to do but not vital- This week
- One day- Whenever
